MELLER BRAGGINS CHESHIRE COUNTY LEAGUE
APPENDIX OF PROPOSED CHANGES TO CONSTITUTION AND RULES –
- Proposal from the League Management Committee to delete the existing Rules 13 and 26 of the Match Rules for Divisional League Championships for both 1st and 2nd Elevens and replace them with the following:
Rule 13. Points will be awarded as follows:
- To a side winning a match having batted first – 25 points fixed
1a To a side winning a match having batted second – 25 points fixed
1b In a match resulting in a tie – 18 points to each side
1c In a match resulting in a draw – 2 points to each side in addition to bonus points earned. ( In a drawn match where the scores finish equal the side who batted first is deemed to have drawn for the purpose of awarding points and the side who batted second are deemed to have tied)
1d In an abandoned match – each side shall receive 7 points or bonus points earned whichever the greater. (An abandoned match is one in which no play is possible or one in which play is finally suspended before a positive result is achieved and before the completion of allocated number of overs or the arrival of the limits specified in Rule 14)
1e Bonus points will be awarded to sides losing a match and to both sides in a drawn match or abandoned match (subject to above provisions)

Bowling Bonus Points:
At the fall of the 1st wicket bowling side earns 1 point
At the fall of the 3rd wicket bowling side earns 2 points
At the fall of the 5th wicket bowling side earns 3 points
At the fall of the 7th wicket bowling side earns 4 points
At the fall of the 9th wicket bowling side earns 5 points
Notes:
(a) For the awarding of Bowling Bonus Points, any batsman who is unable to commence his innings or who has retired by reason of illness, injury or other unavoidable course shall be considered as not out and points will be awarded based on the number of actual wickets taken.
(b) Should a team consist of less than 11 players, then at the completion of their innings (declarations excepted) 10 wickets shall be considered to have fallen for the purpose of awarding Bowling Bonus Points except where any batsman has had to retire or has been unable to bat for any such reason as mentioned in Note (a).
(c) In the case of a declaration, the number of wickets to have fallen will be used to award Bowling Bonus Points.
Rule 26:
In the event of sides finishing equal on points in the League Championship (all Divisions) preference in respect of promotion or relegation will be given to side(s) gaining most wins in the relevant championship, then if still equal the side(s) suffering fewest defeats, then if still equal the points gained in the matches between the sides in the relevant championship shall be taken into consideration. If the sides are still equal lots shall be drawn to determine which team plays in the higher division the following season.
- Proposed by the LMC to amend clause 19 of the Constitution of the League by increasing fines presently provided for by sub-paragraph (a) and (b) respectively to £15.00
- Proposed by the LMC to amend the Match Rules for Divisional League Championships for both 1st and 2nd Elevens as follows:
i) By increasing the fines payable under Rules 23 to £10.00 in both cases.
ii) By increasing the fines payable under Rule 24 to £10.00
- Proposed by the LMC to amend Rule 10 of the Rules for the League Knock-out Competitions for 1st and 2nd Elevens by increasing the fine presently payable under sub-paragraph (c) to £10.00
- Proposed by the League Umpires Association to amend clause 2 of the Constitution of the League by adding to the end of the second sentence of the third paragraph of the clause the following: “… and a representative of the League Umpires and Scorers Association”.
